String guage change

Hi all. I've just bought a Prs 594 it came with 10 guage strings. It says on the back of the head it's set up for 10 guage strings. My question is, would I be able to put 9 guage on or would the truss rod need adjusting?

Yes, a little loosening of the truss rod (probably half a turn) should be all you need. Does it have a trem? If so, you might need to loosen the springs a little as well.

Thanks. I'll try loosening half a turn and then check it again in a few days.

I'd try it first and see. I went from 10s to 9s but also changed makes and the tension must have stayed about the same as there was no need to alter the neck relief.

Yeah, I'ds do the string change first too. If it feels fine, then I wouldn't change anything.

Yeah on my guitars by the time I'd finished faffing about with setting the trem, the original tension had returned regardless of the gauge.  Could be different for a hard tail though.
