dewayne Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Was wondering how so many copycat guitars have suddenly seemed to explode onto the market. Is it because of China and/or readily available Internet and/or delivery options. Some of these look pretty amazing. I regularly see them advertising as "Les Paul's", *explorers" mostly copying Gibson, Ibanez gems or b c. Rich it seems. Is this legal?
ezbass Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Ah, Chibsons. Plainly in breach of trademark, but seemingly out of reach of the US legal system.
Crusoe Posted February 7 Posted February 7 If it's identical to another brand and is marked as that brand but not made or sold by them, it's illegal and if you do own one, illegal to sell it, I believe.
Kiwi Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I'm spoiled for choice. I could even make my own from factory second parts. Not tempted in the least, however because often what one gains in appearance is lost in functionality and poor fit. There are some excellent PRS clones for 700 quid but the rest of it I would steer clear of.
