mikerodbell Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I use a parts caster (essentially a strat) & am considering picking up a valeton GP200 to replace fidgety stomp boxes (distortion, overdrive, compression, reverb, modulator and volume pedal. i tried a friends briefly & was impressed. Several years back, I’d tried something similar with a Boss ME-80, and wasn’t happy with the sound or feel. Seems like the GP200 is worlds better. does anyone have significant performing experience with the GP200? My band plays a mix of 60s through 80’s rock (Doobie Bros, Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, CSNY, James Taylor, etc.). 1 Quote
Dad3353 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 The ME-80 was launched ten years ago; that's quite a while in these circles. We have the bass version; it's very good, for its generation. The GP200 (and its sister versions...) is very much more modern. In ten years time it will doubtless be less attractive, but as of today, it has a fine reputation, and most functions required by most players. Try it anyway, and, if you're buying through t'web, send it back if you are not convinced of its qualities. Just my tuppence-worth. 1 Quote
Diary Of An Axeman Posted yesterday at 10:13 Posted yesterday at 10:13 Doesn't matter what age effects pedals or multi effects units are, if any musician has the patience, time to invest to go thru the owners manual, anyone can make any effects device sound good. One could run an BBE Sonic Maximizer or an Aphex Aural Exciter in the effects loop of an older multi effects unit to sound as good new out their. What people are paying for are the more bells / whistles in more modern gear. Trust me, I went thru many effects units over these last 40 years. Quote
