dewayne Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 if i came across a good deal via internet on a gibson explorer (not korina) what kind of tone would it have compared to my epi explorer that is korina wood if they had same pickups, strings, yadda, yadda? Quote
Dad3353 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 I'm not an exponent of the 'tonewood' school of thought. I'm rather 'tone is in the fingers'; two different players will sound different, even given the same guitar to play. If we eliminate the extremes (papier-maché, solid lead...), the stuff they're made of has very little influence on the 'tone'. Still less influence once any kind of disto pedal is involved. Still, some folk enjoy cork-sniffing or developing bat-like hearing rather than playing whatever they have on hand. It's good for commerce, so it's not all bad. Quote
Diary Of An Axeman Posted Wednesday at 09:59 Posted Wednesday at 09:59 Since I do many genres of Rock ; Classic Rock, NWOBM/ 80 Metal, Blues, Thrash, Neo Classical Metal and Instrumental Music. I notice the more distortion used the more the individuality of tonewood and pickups vanish. But when the guitar is ran clean you can hear the tonewood and pickup nuances. Quote
