Ben93 Posted Monday at 20:06 Share Posted Monday at 20:06 The main riff of Transylvania by iron maiden for some reason is giving me some sort of guitar block I just can’t do it. Anyone who can play this what rythym do you use like down up etc and what would you say is closest to being correct timing wise. For example the first bit on the d string I’m using the dashes as like a pause 2-222-2-5-4 or would you play more like 2-2222-5-4 whatever I try it just seems not to sound like the song however when I play it on my bass and do the baseline it sounds fine which is confusing. Any pointers on nailing this song would be handy
Dad3353 Posted Monday at 21:04 Share Posted Monday at 21:04 (edited) Does this help..? Note the 12/8 time signature, think Scottish jigs and reels when listening to it (Diddly, diddly, diddly, diddly...) Count, slowly, in groups of three (triplets...), such as 1-3,223,3-3,423, 1-3 223,3--,4-- where the dashes represent a note not played. Allow me to recommend Guitar Pro; it's very good. randythoades Posted Tuesday at 07:30 Share Posted Tuesday at 07:30 I can't really help in explaining the time signature etc but it may be helpful to use one of the apps on your phone to slow the track down to half speed as it gives you much more chance to play along and really listen to those parts in detail. If you can play along at half speed then gradually build up the speed. As @Dad3353 has mentioned in several posts previously.... if you want to play fast, then play slow.
