SH73 Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 I've bought a second hand strat for a project. The blade switch has a 7 pin to connect pups and pots to it. The 8th pin is connected to casing. I didn't take notes before I de soldered the wires now I'm struggling to wire it up to work as a 5 way blade switch. Anyone has a diagram how to wire a 7 pin switch to work as a 5 way strat switch? Chiliwailer Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 On a 4 a side regular switch there is one connection pin that doesn’t get used, so that may have been soldered to the side? Does it look like a regular 4 a side switch? Quote
Chiliwailer Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Or it might be an 8 in line cheap copy type? Quote
SH73 Posted August 18, 2018 Author Posted August 18, 2018 it's an eight in line switch. 8th is a ground. Quote
Chiliwailer Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 I’d be inclined to start from scratch like this Quote
SH73 Posted August 18, 2018 Author Posted August 18, 2018 Thanks. This works for a standard 8 pin switch. The one I have has 7 pins with an extra 8th pin which seems to be ground. Quote

SH73 Posted August 19, 2018 Author Posted August 19, 2018 Thanks. Looks like the previous wiring I dismantled with capacitor soldered to volume and tone pot. Would there be a much sound difference if I wired up classic strat wiring with CRL 5 way switch? Quote
Chiliwailer Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 I very much doubt there’d be a noticeable, if any, tone difference - just an easier life for you! 1 Quote
