Every now and then (every couple of months or so..?), go back to the slow tempo and repeat the whole process, increasing very slowly the tempo. This is the way to achieving fluid, fluent guitar licks, runs, melodies... Music. You will need a big bucket of Patience, but it will pay off handsomely. Hope this helps.
