moore1181
Hi all. I am thinking about swapping the stock pickups on my SG to the 57 classic ones hoping for a better, crisper clean sound. I generally play through an AC30 slightly overdriven i.e. I don't use the SG for AC/DC marshall tones (as much as I love AC/DC!). Advice welcome. gary mac
Not sure how crisp clean you're going to get, given that you go for a slightly overdriven AC30. Having said that, a pick up swap can really improve things. I've installed Seymour Duncans on a customer's SG and he loved the result. EdwardMarlowe
Maybe a pair of HB-sized p90s might be more to your tastes?
Lozz196
The Classic 57 is a good pickup and sounds great when played loud. At quieter volumes I thought it was a tad middy and insipid sounding but then I was using it for rock. The Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck sounds nice on clean sounds, much crisper to my ears. darkandrew
A bit late to the party, sorry. If you're looking at replacement pickups for an SG, then it really has to be a Bare Kunckle Riff Raff set - not cheap but definitely worth every penny.
