Hawesomedown Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I saw this guitar in a trailer for an upcoming movie in the hands of NZ musician Stella "BENEE" Bennett. This image peeked my insterest but so far I have been unable to identify the instrument. Quote
Hawesomedown Posted January 29, 2024 Author Posted January 29, 2024 *to clear things up, it has different pickguard, headstock and pickups than VOX teardrop guitars so it can't be that. Quote
Graham50 Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I think that looks like a bit of a hybrid. The neck is Fender-seque, the logo almost looks like it says Squier. The body is the Vox teardrop of course, but the pickups look like Gretsch Filtertrons. Have you tried looking at the artists website, if she has one. There may be a list of gear there. Quote
Musical Mystery Tour Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Since the movie is set in 1979 around the late/post punk scene, and assuming they are going for some kind of authenticity (which would probably be a first for a music movie lol), it should be some kind of cheapo copy. Frankly they would all be playing Hondo and Columbus Les Paul and Fender copies around that time, maybe the odd fake Hondo Rickenbacker 4000 bass or two, if they wanted it to be really authentic looking to that era.
