Pbassred
This is either complicated or simple. I'm not sure which. I used to frequent Basschat, but then I started playing samba percussion (they don't use 4-string basses) and also Cavaquinho. The last time I played guitar was 14 years ago! I've forgotten loads. A few weeks ago I bought an Epiphone casino. I want to build a pedal board for running direct to a PA that also doubles as my home setup with a headphone jack. I would like to be minimalist with perhaps some kind of overdrive/dirt/tube screamer and a reverb. For acoustic I have an optima air ( a great interface but no amp modeling) and a Sansamp Para DI. Also a great interface but no head phone jack. I can't think of a way to use them. I could go really old school and just get an XT pod, but was hoping for something lighter and tech has moved on. Or..... I could just get a small amp with a headphone jack.

I've just looked up small multi-Fx on Thomann, and see the Valeton Dapper Mini 4 Effect Strip, which would fit your bill, I think, at £70 +£10 shipping. Any use..? A multi FX as suggested above is a good way to start as you have access to a multitude of tones which you can start to narrow down. You might find that (like me) you only use one basic tone, in which case you can look for an amp simulator pedal and possibly a DI box. Personally, if you already have the Para DI, I would use that at the end of my board for PA and get an older Zoom FX off eBay or similar (less than £50) for headphones or to run into the DI for live work and use that for a while and see what you use. Dedicated amp simulator pedals tend to be a bit pricey, or you end up using several for different tones which kind of defeats the object of going smaller. But you could sell the Para DI to pay for it once you are settled on your tone. There are some good cheaper amp sim pedals (Joyo American etc) and the POD XT is still very much a viable option if you need headphones. For myself I currently use the Behringer V-Amp rackmount version with inbuilt DI and headphone out if needed. I run this either into the PA mixer or into an active speaker at home. I can make it fairly simple - get a Kemper Stage Profiler plus any unique effects you want. It will do nearly anything (apart from trichorus and Dimension D, so I have a Line 6 M5 plugged into one of the loops and MIDI mapped) OK so it won't be the cheapest solution but they have just released a pedalboard friendly version for five hundred quid which will do everything you've asked for above. It's also about half the price of the full fat profiler I have. And you can use it for bass too.
sundayguitar
I would start with a cheap but VERY convincing multi FX like this one: https://thmn.to/thoprod/517099?offid=1&affid=1771 I find that crazy that you can get that decent of a sound at that price. What a time to be a (bedroom) guitarist Edited January 10 by sundayguitar
Pbassred
That looks great. I'm looking at the NUX Amp Academy. https://www.thomann.de/gb/nux_ngs_6_amp_academy.htm
