Neddy Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Looking at a 2x12 with a 30w creamback and a 25w blackback. Could this be used with marshall 50w head or would I need a cabinet with more headroom? Thanks for the help. Quote
Dad3353 Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Is that a Marshall 50W valve amp, or a 50W solid-state amp..? The valve amp has the potential of blowing the cones off, if mis-used; the solid state should be OK if volume levels are reasonable. I'm assuming, of course, that these two speakers are in a suitable cab (sealed or open-back..?). Wattage is not a good unit of measure, though, for this type of question. The best unit is Listening (with one's ears...). If it starts to sound 'off', back off a bit. Don't expect too much, but back in the '60s, we played through just about any combination of mis-matched gear. Yes, we busted a few speaker cones, too. Quote
