London Bluesman
If like me you occasionally buy a guitar online without trying it out first then you’ll be interested in this post, which concerns what can go wrong. The guitar in question was an Eastman Romeo - not easy to find. I wanted to try one and Forsyth Music had one in stock. I emailed to ask about their return policy in case the guitar wasn't right for me. They said they were fine with me returning it in that case. They’d simply ask £20 return charge and arrange a courier pick-up. In the event I didn’t like the Romeo enough to justify the price. Fair enough, they arranged for DPD to pick it up. But then things went wrong DPD picked up the guitar - then lost it. So it never got back to Forsyth Music. Ok that’s unfortunate - but surely Forsyth Music would refund me? After all, I followed their return policies… Wrong. Forsyth Music are claiming that they cannot refund me since it was my responsibility to return the item - even though I followed their return procedures and it is THEIR contract with DPD. I post this here as a word of warning. Parcels get lost and not every guitar shop will take your side if this happens. I contacted Andertons to ask their policy and they were clear that in this case they’d refund me as clearly it’s DPD at fault rather than me. They would claim from DPD - it’s their contract with the courier. On basis of this experience I’d advise you all to beware of Forsyth Music! LionAquaLooper
You're correct. Their contract with DPD should have included insurance. So as well as keeping your money, they could have potentially claimed compensation from DPD.
