tom1946 Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Hey guys, I have a new Squier strat, this one: https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Squier-Standard-Strat-MN-Candy-Apple-Red/9J4 I want some better pickups (Texas Specials) but the price is off putting so I wondered if anyone has tried Warman Tex Specials and if they are as good as they say? Appreciate some feedback please. Or is there something better for 30 quid. cheers, Tom. Quote
Chiliwailer Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Love the CAR and maple combo. I might need a cheap elcectric soon and I have my eye on a used one just like that which is local to me. Might be worth posting a WTB on The Fretboard for the TS pups. Quote
dlloyd Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 The pickups on the standard Squier aren't that bad... I'm not sure it would be worth it. 1 Quote
tom1946 Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Thanks guys, I just have a memory from when I had my guitar shop in Whitby of fitting some TS's into a strat for someone and they were really ballsy. Now that I'm retired I can treat myself to some so I thought... well you know. I'll go and have another play and turn the volume up a bit Quote
EdwardMarlowe Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I was always impressed with GFS pickups in the past - https://www.guitarfetish.com/Stratreg-Sized_c_579.html . At that sort of price, you could order a few sets and play around with them,. They have some sort of plug and play / no-solder wiring loom available, which would let you swap around pups fairly easily to really see what your guitar likes best.... Quote

edstraker123 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 I've just had Bloodstone build me a set of handwired P90's to replicate Bareknuckle Blue Notes . More than £30 but much less than the BK's ! Do it Tom !!! Quote
tom1946 Posted April 11, 2019 Author Posted April 11, 2019 Well I've not been well enough to do this until now. I've bought a set of triple hots from Warman and I'll get them fitted in the next 2 weeks and report back on what they're like. Cheers. 1 Quote
