Crusoe
Like you say, it's probably a fuzz or distortion pedal of some sort going into a wah.
Dad3353
It certainly puts the kibosh on the 'tone wood' debate. I will never understand why anyone would want a sound like that. Not a fan, obviously.
EdwardMarlowe
I rather like the guitar. The vocals, less so. Opinions will vary on how successfully it pulls it off, but it sounds to me like it's very much Hendrix influenced. It has the emphasis on rhythm and the fuzz/ wah combination which, imo at least, became his signature sound. The really big debate is whether you put the wah or the fuzz first in the chain - and whether it makes a huge difference. Good article on that here - https://screaminfx.com/tech/wah-before-or-after-fuzz-pedal.htm FWIW, Jimi always seemed to prefer the guitar to go into the wah before the fuzz. If you want a more uniform sound, there's always autowah, though that's a more limited effect by its nature too. Not bad, just different.
