polvo Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 I'm thinking about buying a Jackson guitar, which as far as I can tell looks like a Dinky JS22. (But correct me if you think this is wrong) The only weird thing is that it has dot markets for the fret inlays, and every photo I can see online of a Jackson guitar has shark fin inlays. Are there some exceptions, or is this a red flag that the guitar might not be what it claims to be? Did Jackson ever use dots? Quote
polvo Posted January 1, 2023 Author Posted January 1, 2023 UPDATE: I've just found the Monarkh SC JS22 (also JS22, like the one I'm looking at), which has dot inlays: https://www.jacksonguitars.com/en-GB/body-shape/monarkh/js-series-monarkh-sc-js22/2916902568.html But that has a different headstock to the one I'm looking at, so now I'm just as confused as I was when I started... Crusoe Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I had a look on Gear 4 Music and they have a JS11 Dinky that looks similar to the one you posted - dot inlays, headstock... Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Yep, seems legit to me, here's one on the Jackson site. Note to self: you do not need a Jackson Kelly. Quote
EdwardMarlowe Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 May be wrong - no expert, as this was never my style - but of all the Jacksons and Charvels I've seen over the years, sharkfins seemed to be a fancier trim for the more expensive options, with others in the line being more cosmetically stripped back . utilitarian. c/f Gibson.
