This Wreckage Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 As a newbie to slide electric guitar and as a fairly basic guitarist in general, I'm trying to learn how to play slide in non-standard keys. I have a composition that's mainly in B flat minor. What's the simplest way to play slide in that? Quote
ezbass Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Easiest? I’d tune the whole guitar down a half step, giving you an Ebmin7 open tuning and go from there. When I played a lot of slide, I took the E string off and open tuned to G (a la Keef) and fretted behind the slide for different chords, this isn’t the easiest solution, however. 2 Quote

Open-D tuning (DADF#AD...) is a popular set-up for slide playing, for good reasons. To play along with minor-tuned instruments, tuning the F# down to F can be useful. Read a bit more about it here... Wikipedia : Open-D tuning ... Hope this helps. 2 Quote
