I have made an impulse purchase with this vintage 1950s archtop, and then my laptop decided to give up the will to live, so I am planning to sell this to finance part of the laptop replacement. I purchased the guitar from a shop here in Scotland called Vintage, rare and retro guitars, feel free to Google it, it’s a great shop. Since purchasing, I played it for a few hours and added a set of Flatwounds D’Addario 11s. This is the information from the shop, copied and pasted: “Dating from the late 1950s we think this beautiful cutaway archtop guitar is a Rodebald Hoyer. Fully refurbished, including a neck reset, this archtop is once again set up for playing for another 60 years. The hardware is not original - modern tailpiece, floating bridge and scratch plate. A floating pickup has also been added, controlled by volume and tone controls with new jack input added to lower side of the guitar. The machine heads may be original to the guitar - certainly of the correct vintage. Nice low action across the fretboard (courtesy of the zero fret and the neck reset) with plenty of adjustment available on the floating bridge.” Goes without saying, but this is a guitar that has seen 60 years worth of this world, hence it is not pristine. However, it is in surprisingly good shape and as you can see in the photos, there is no damage of any kind. I have a gig bag for the guitar, but not a hard case, hence collection is very much preferred. I would consider posting it however. I do have a box and I will do my best to pack it well, but it needs to be understood that postage is (as always) the responsibility of the buyer.
