daveornorm
Hello everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post - I usually hang out on the basschat sister site. I hope it's OK to post this sort of thing on here? Can you help me to identify this guitar neck? About 15-20 years ago I bought a random guitar neck off eBay to stick on an old strat body I had in an attempt to learn to play better with six strings. Anyway, it was on a guitar for years that was barely played that I found in the loft the other day. I popped the neck off and found it is stamped 'ECCLESHALL' - could this be the real Chris Eccleshall? It's a beautiful birds-eye maple neck with a rosewood (?) board with no markers. It was fitted with Sperzel locking tuners by me. I did notice that the neck has a small split at the heal coming from one of the screw holes - this is probably the fault of a much younger and dumber me... should be a simple fix though. Does anyone on here have any insight into whether it could be Chris' work? how much might it be worth? and where would be the best place to find a new home for it? Thanks for reading... EdwardMarlowe
Certainly looks like it would have been something expensive originally - the figured wood, and especially the lack of fingerboard markers. Occasionally you see something cheaper where a very nice piece of wood turned up by coinkydink, but I've never seen anything that flash on something that wasn't big money. Equally, you don't tend to see fully plain fingerboards on a cheap neck, as a rule...
