ibanezImy Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Hi all, I thought I'd might ask about some general knowledge about busking with electric guitars, is it a thing?.. Also how would you power up? Generator, but aren't those things noisy?.. Hope you are all well..
ezbass Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Definitely a thing and has been so for quite some time. Battery powered amps seem to be the standard modus operandi. 1

EdwardMarlowe Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 I've seen people doing it since the 90s at least. Best tone was a guy in St Paul's tube station in the run up to Christmas about twenty years ago or more, who had an old (pre-1980) battery-powered Vox amp of some sort. Course, some of the official busking spots on the tube I think even have power sockets now. 1

In the town canter they are not many hot spots for busking, but I've only seen people busk in the same spot with an acoustic. I was planning to take my SPARK amp as its great for jamming with backing tracks and connectivity via Bluetooth. I've seen a nice BOSS amp that's in my budget for busking, but i'd like something that could at least have an AUX connection or a Bluetooth connection driven amp. 1
ibanezImy Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 Settled for this bad boy.. BOSS Ktn-Mini Katana Portable Guitar Amplifier, i meant its not Bluetooth, but it has some sick features for great tone on the go, but it has an AUX cable connection, so I'm pretty happy with that! 1
ezbass Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 No Bluetooth means no potential latency issues, so not a bad thing.

ibanezImy Posted November 1, 2021 Author Posted November 1, 2021 I received my amp a few days ago and it came with free batteries. Epic! Gotta admit its a great sounding amp with great tone and volume. Couldn't be more chuffed! 1
