ezbass
Given that we're going to be spending at least a month indoors and that my outside pursuit of chasing a small white ball around the countryside with a bag of sticks has been curtailed, I've decided to build myself a Fuzz Face clone. I love Eric Johnson's singing lead tone and have only recently realised that the main component of this is a Fuzz Face (all the EJ anoraks go, "Yeah, duh!") so this could be fun. I'll post photos and more details when it arrives, having only just pulled the trigger on this https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/Fuzz_Face/p847124_4240480.aspx Edited November 15, 2020 by ezbass
EdwardMarlowe
Interested to see photos. I always thought it would be cool to rehouse a bunch of favourite pedals, give 'em a uniform look/size/shape and an air of mystery!
ezbass
Kit arrived today. I was hoping that I might be able to stretch the build over a few days, but it looks very much like a one session affair. I’ll start tomorrow.
Dad3353
It's a shame you've spilt the pieces all over the floor, though. ...

ezbass
It begins... It's very fiddly and the instructions aren't the clearest, so I'm going to take my time and do some more another day. ezbass
Wired and tested the main board today, it works! Still awaiting some smoothing caps, so no sound clips as yet.
ezbass
Short demo (forgive the playing). First clean, then full on (controls at 3 o'clock, 5 being max), followed by backing the guitar's vol control off a little at a time down to about 7. Then working back up again and then off/clean. ezbass
Now that’s done, I’ve ordered a tremolo pedal kit. Watch this space for more soldering shenanigans.
ezbass
The Throb kit landed today. Just went through identifying the transistor values (painful job) and making sure everything in the parts list was present and correct. Some actual building can wait for another day.
