    Combo

Bummer. My Roland ga212 gets great sounds but I have to use something to make it distort. Moore 150 I think is the model but I've will sometimes use evh od pedal or joyo extreme metal in its place. I once played through someone's marshall jubilee half stack for about 6 months while guy was trying to sell it. Drum er's space so I was told to use it so I wouldn't have to lug my amp back and forth. It was solid state and I just plugged in explorer twisted some dials and the sound was gorgeous, sort of Kentucky headhunters'ish. Love amp to guitar with nothing between. Probably should have bought it. Just bigger than I needed. Anyhow, thanks for response

    Combo

May start looking for a combo amp in near future. Don't care about clean tone, I have an amp for that. Prefer non tube. I know marshall has solid state but can it distort like a half stack. Does mesa boogie make a non tube combo? I realize I can go to a store in person or internet and find out but I may hear a recommendation from someone here about other options. I play slide and usually go for a Georgia Satellites meets Dave Mustaine tone, usually epi explorer. Just want that tone.
  4. Ok, you're stranded in a blizzard outside of Daytona speedway caught in traffic because 100,000+ rednecks want to get back to their own state before dark. You have 3 guitars to have with you. 1 is to use as kindling because of the Florida snowstorm, 2 is to fight off the Earnhardt fans that mooch everyone's beer 3 for you to play, cuddle or whatever wierd crap you want to do with it..................Ready? 1 For my firewood guitar would be Steve Vai's 5 neck hydra guitar. Gotta be a decent amount of wood in that. 2 one of those 80's pointy Kramer guitars. Would be brutal and efficient dealing with the sea of #3's and #8's trying to get in your cooler. 3 is a toughie but I want billy Gibbon's explorer in the video where it looks like a cloud. Never thought of having a cuddle guitar but now I have an answer if topic comes up.........and yes I'm aware that seniors gone and jr retired.

    Banjitar

6 months ago bought a banjitar and it can be fun to play. Always have capo handy with Nashville tuning because it just seems a good fit. Then I just strum the crap out of it with bare index most of the time. Why is 6 string banjitar not called 6 string banjo. Whether standard tuning or say open G it's still banjitar. What a horrible name by the way. There's 4 string banjo, 5 string banjo, why not 6. To me drum head with strings should automatically qualify it as banjo. Does anyone have one of these and does it have a neck like barrel end of a softball bat?
  6. He also has been known to use one from buffalo hoof. Looks like warren Haynes plays like Steve gaines...... Hey am I a poet and not aware of it?

    GT guitars

Walnut. Out of miss. Bought it used. No names just numbers assigned to them this is #16 I think. # is bottom below toggle. The order they are made in I guess. Just curious if anyone else has one and what they think of it.
  9. Favorite rolling Stones song is Emotional Rescue. Love the bass. Recently heard or read that Ron Wood is who actually played bass on that song. Is this true? If so, why?

    Peavy

My first pawnshop guitar was a Peavy ? solidbody double cutaway 70's or 80's era. The pick guard had an insane amount of screws holding it on. Does anyone know why so many screws? It was actually an ok guitar. Just a question I had back then that didn't get answered.
  13. Got a guitar playing friend who will choose picks to buy by bouncing it on counter on its edge and listen for that magic, "thonk" or whatever the sound is that "chosen" picks make. Anyone else do this?
  14. Ahhh, only thing that beats a puncture wound is two puncture wounds in the same spot. Nice to hear you've found your strings For some reason I keep wanting to keep putting 12's on my Mexican Martin. Just a little too much but sounds really good. Just put on Magna acoustic flatwounds 10's on Marty last week and they play and sound good, maybe even great. They seem to be holding up well which is what I was mostly worried about. I think same strings in 11's might be the answer on next round.
