    Lowdon advice

Of course, this is a difficult question to answer with any degree of accuracy…probably not more than a few grand though. Why this particular instrument? Have you played it? You could get a brand new one for around 4,5k. Alternatively, I bought an F25 recently. Just realised I would much prefer a cutaway so if you have anything to trade…
  2. I’ve been learning Playing God by Polyphia. It’s tricky to play cleanly and to keep the harmonics ringing out…i think I’ve got most of it to about quarter tempo, but it’s meant to be played fast. I think I’ve got about 6 more months considering my current practice regime!
  3. I think it’s a great choice having checked it out online! I used to have a strat copy (yung chang fenix I think) which was the same colour. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and it certainly looks the part! I think you’ve made a good choice based on your reasoning
  4. We can only guess from the 3 options provided? In that case I’d say you probably went for.. .. .. the ibanez! Because it looks totally cool
  5. Hey! Although I’ve just bought my most recent guitar online from Andertons (who I believe are in Guildford) I’m actually in Newcastle on Tyne. We still have a few decent guitar shops here thankfully, a place called JG Windows is a great music shop which stocks all sorts of instruments from pianos to acoustic guitars. There’s also the obligatory ‘guitar guitar’ which has quite a good selection. There’s also a couple of independents hidden away in backstreets, the names of which escape me at the moment. Overall I feel like we have a fairly decent selection considering the relative size of the city. If you’re ever up north I’d be happy to show you around and do some window shopping! cheers richard
  6. Thanks randythoades! I hadn’t really considered a marshall but it’s a good call - I’ll have a look around and see whether there are any I can try! I’m looking for a natural sound and, as much as I enjoyed the volume of the street cube, I never quite enjoyed the tone as much! cheers
  7. Certainly is! Once the kids are in bed I’ll do a little more research but am still hoping to get some stuff ordered this week! Cheers
  8. Wow, thanks! I hadn’t looked at interfacing options yet, I’ve not really recorded anything before apart from a few iPhones clips to help friends out with a particular technique. My plan is not yet professional level sound yet as I’m basically going to use youtube as a repository/portfolio to store to recordings for the time being so they’ll ultimately be compressed to low quality anyway. I’m looking for some entry level gear to get used to how it all works and then maybe upgrade if I’m any good / have enough time to dedicate. thanks very much for the suggestions, I’ll order some components tonight and hopefully have something setup by mid-week. i’ll report back on my results, either good or bad! cheers, richard
  9. Good afternoon everyone, As per the title really, I’m looking for recommendations for recording acoustic guitar. ideally I’d rather not put any pickups on my new guitar but rather just record the natural sound, I’ve had a look into condenser mics and they seem to be what I’m looking for but don’t have much experience recording. any advice is appreciated! cheers, Richard

Thanks! I’ve wanted one for ages but kept being drawn towards Martin dreadnoughts…but not this time!
  12. Thanks! I’ll have a look around for one, I have access to a few guitar shops around here so will keep my eyes open. Thanks for the recommendation
  13. Hey everyone, just curious as to whether anyone has any thoughts on a good acoustic amp? I had a roland street cube for a while and really liked it and am now in the market for a new amp. To be honest, it’ll probably spend most of its working life in the house but may occasionally make a trip out….

Cheers, still sounds very crispy and new, that should change over the next few months though

Thanks so much! I’m always happy to learn and share if I have anything useful to add! I’m about to embark on building my first acoustic but have zero skills with woodworking…I’m looking forward to sharing the journey - and hopefully pick up a few tips on the way! cheers, richard
