Oh dear! Think I have caught the bug - I want more toys!
Richie Rich replied to The Pinky's topic in Guitars
@The Pinky You can never have enough, the more you buy...the more you want. Embrace the addiction -
I just picked up a BOSS ME-50 through Facebook marketplace for only £70, it’s a beauty . I’ve only just started to explore its capabilities but, so far I’m impressed. Like most things bought second-hand, it needed a good clean

I picked up a second hand Carlsbro Sherwood Signature 85 watts, it's perfect for what I want and it sounds great.

I’m thinking of selling this, DM me if you’re interested.

I just picked up a cracking Carlsbro Sherwood Signature SH85C 85w acoustic guitar combo through Facebook Marketplace, it was a total bargain at only £30 . It has 2 channels, effects loop, line out, footswitch and reverb. I’m going to play around with it tomorrow and put it through it’s paces. Has anybody got one? Have you got a manual for it that you send me a copy of?

I've got a cheap and cheerful East Coast GT100 `Tele' style which is great to play but, I was thinking of turning it into an Esquire. I plan to remove the neck pickup, add a new single coil sized humbucker in the bridge, put on an Esquire style pickguard and wire it like an Esquire. Before I start and ruin a perfectly playable guitar, I've got a couple of questions; Are there any pitfalls that I should be aware of? What single coil sized humbucking pickups can anyone recommend? Who knows of anyone that can supply an inexpensive custom pickguard? Over to you guys.

Electro-acoustic through an electric amp - EQ advice
Richie Rich replied to Richie Rich's topic in General Discussion
@ezbass We used to go directly in the PA but, the combo gives us a better representation of our sound that the little monitors we use. At the moment I tend to use the combo’s EQ to get the basic sound and then finely tune it on the guitar’s EQ. -
I play in a church and we run electro-acoustics through a Peavey Bandit 65 solo, obviously it's working fine but my question is; To get the BEST sound, would it be better to to EQ the guitar rather than the combo or the other way round? I was thinking that it would be better to keep the combo settings at 12 and tweak the sound from the guitar. Any advice would be greatly received, thanks.

I've been so impressed with my original Gear4Music thinline acoustic, that I just bought another. This time I went for a Gear4Music thinline dreadnought, it has fantastic projection and I'm looking forward to giving it a spin in church in a couple of Sunday's time.

Thinline Acoustic Case or Gigbag?
Richie Rich replied to Richie Rich's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have two and they are both Gear4music (trust me when I say that their own brand guitars are good, they outperform their price tag IMHO). I do have a lightweight padded case for each of them but they are very lightweight and a loud fart could do damage through them. Thanks for the input guys, I'll keep on looking, something will crop up. -
Can anybody recommend a case or a gigbag for a thinline acoustic guitar? Google keeps bringing up SKB cases but they're too rich for my blood, I'm looking for something that's easier on the pocket.

Right way to hold a plectrum (if there is one?)
Richie Rich replied to Rustypeb's topic in Accessories and Misc
There's no right way or wrong way, whatever way suits you is what's best. I hold picks differently when I play electric to when I play acoustic. -
Can you recommend anyone that can make custom amp badges? I contacted a couple of companies that I found online but they either never got back to me, forgot about me or decided that they were too busy to make them.
-
Never found out what it was but we just moved the combo and it sorted it out.

I play in a church Worship Team and I run an electro-acoustic through a Peavey Bandit 65, on stage today I noticed that I could hear both my combo and a slightly delayed version through my monitor also, they were clashing with each other and when I listened back to the livestream it was annoyingly noticeable. It’s never happened before so I might go back to running straight into the DI again obviously I want what’s best for everyone. Has anybody else had this problem before and how did you get over it?
-
@RamblinAnd Did you go for the BOSS SD-1? I was looking at this pedal and I was wondering how you found it.

I picked up a second hand 1986 Peavey Bandit 65 today for only £40, it needs a damn good clean but I can’t wait to explore its sounds. Do any other Guitarchat members have one of these or had one in the past? Any tips or tricks to make it sing and chug etc? I’m going to use the clean channel for my electro-acoustic.

The Behringer TM300 is for for front of amp use, I was looking at Behringer GDI21 as this is a preamp modeller DI. Has anybody used one of these? How did you find it?
-
@ezbass That was the exact pedal I've was looking into

In my church I play an electro-acoustic straight into a DI box, I was thinking of using an electric and as we haven't got a combo there, can anyone recommend a low-budget amp modeller pedal that I could use to go into to then go into the DI box?

I saw Rory Gallagher live at the London Dominion Theatre in November 1988, great gig. Interestingly, Michael Schenker was also invited to audition for the Rolling Stones, back in 1973.

It’s only a short video unplugged, a few of the band don’t like to be filmed so there’s not much chance of it appearing plugged in on YouTube just yet.

IMG_7061.MOV @ezbass It landed Friday at 11am, I took it to rehearsal that night and I played it in church on Sunday. It's lovely and slim, light on the strap and it plays really well, I'm very, very impressed with it and I'm going to make it my main guitar in church from now on. I attached a brief video but it doesn't want to play for some reason.

@ezbass Life is too short and so the itch must be scratched. Regarding your comment "Things were very different back when I was a mere slip of a lad", I had the same conversation today with my brother, when we started out a `budget' guitar cost a month's wages and guitar pedals cost more than a terraced house in Sheffield, now kids can work in McDonalds for a week and at the weekend they can pick up a decent guitar. It's a different market and I'm happy as now I can go and buy without breaking the bank.
