  1. What about the Mooer Triangle Buff? It's roughly in your price range new and within it used. If you are looking for a bluesy overdrive, i can recommend the Mooer Blues Crab. it's a great wee pedal.
  2. I saw this in the other place It's a lovely looking guitar. How does it play and sound?
  3. Good to have you back Shawn and I'm glad to see you are sticking with it!
  4. I have the TE-62 and it was the same. The actin could maybe be a little lower, but it's perfectly playable as is. Some of the fret ends are a tiny bit sharp, but they don't affect the playability and I've felt worse.
  5. I have a couple of Harley Bentons and the quality on both is decent. In fact, one of them cost me £138 but the quality is on a par with instruments I've seen at two or three times the price. The one she has chosen will be great for her to start out on. You might need to take it to a guitar technician to get the setup just right on it, but you can wait until it comes to find that out.
  6. What about the Laney Cub Super 12? It's 15W but can be dropped to 1W and has a series effects loop
  7. There are other bodies offering grades too. Rockschool Trinity College London I've considered doing the grades, but keep asking myself why - would I be trying to prove something to myself or someone else.
  8. Good to have you here!

    Guitar strings

The fact that you say it gets better after a while leads me to think that it's a technique problem. If you aren't holding the string down with enough pressure, you will get buzzing (be careful not to press to hard, or the note will sound sharp).
  10. I was in the guitar shop last week and was going try a couple of acoustics, but there was another guy in, playing and he was excellent, so i just couldn't do it.
  11. There's only about £25 difference between the two and you can always turn the mg30gfx, so I would probably go with that.
  12. I bought the LT25 recently. It's great for home playing. I haven't had the volume up high, but suspect that it could be used in very small venues for gigging. It has 30 built-in profiles, with another 20 or so "hidden" profiles. It has about 25 empty profiles that you can customise. There are a couple of built-in profiles that I really like when playing my Ibanez and Harley Benton.
  13. Are you able to try them both?
  14. I can't say I've ever heard of them.
  15. I'm willing to bet that almost no one in the audience will be able to tell the difference.
  16. I got a chord-a-day calendar,. What did everyone else get?

Would you get one of those for under £300? You might even struggle to get one second-hand, especially Epiphone.
  18. Natural marks like that add character.

Welcome to the site Walks. I don't know much about Les Paul style guitars, but you can get this one that's well within your budget Harley Benton SC-Custom II SPAF – Thomann UK You'll find loads of LP style guitars on there for less than £300.
  20. With a thread title like that, I think you are looking for www.murderdetectivechat.co.uk
  21. I wouldn't say I love it, but I do really like it. For me, it's the portability. I have a guitar lesson after work once a week and can sit in the car for half an hour beforehand and practise. It sounds decent enough too. Obviously it's not going to be as loud or full sounding as a larger amp, but it's good enough for my needs.
