P90s for the win.
-
Right, let's get this forum moving with some satiated GAS. Having tried this out last week, I pulled the trigger today and I'm ever so glad I waited, £60 off the advertised online price. I've taken off the horribly contrasting white pickguard and have set it up. Plays really nicely and those stock P90s sound great, especially the neck pickup. Minor gripes are that there a few sharpish fret ends (easily fixed) and that the pau ferro used for the fretboard has obviously been stained a bit and putting some lemon oil on the rather dry looking 'board, caused some stain to come off on my fingers. Still that's merely cosmetic and, again, easily fixable. Oh what's that I hear you say? Very well...

Guitar Guitar in Birmingham have one at the moment https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/pxp180812331231004-1821754--yamaha-sg700s-trans-green-mij-pre-owned-qj0029f but you’re right, you just don’t see them that much and they were such good guitars. I also have a soft spot for the ‘Super Flighter’ which was a cheaper alternative to the SG.

That, sir, is bloody lovely. GLWTS. -
That partscaster looks quality.

I like Guitar Guitar, the range at my local branch (Epsom) is huge! However, I also have a soft spot for Guitar Village in Farnham as I find their old, rambling premises intriguing, with lots of nooks and crannies hiding some nice gear. Anderton’s in Guildford is good too, albeit a bit of a drive (as is GV).

Probably down to lack of replies at this time, if this was BC there would be probably 5 times the amount of posts; give it time. Guthrie Govan, what a talent, The Aristocrats are amazing. Good shout on Richard Thompson, as adept on electric as he is on acoustic guitar and a song writer par excellence, who I’ve seen many times.

Ah, slightly different, but totally workable. Cheers!

Hi guys, I'm loving the new site, just what I need, somewhere else to fritter away my time Anyway, I've noticed that when selecting a thread from the list of unread posts, rather than automatically jumping to the most recent unread post (as it does on BC) it just goes to the first post of that thread. It does it on both my iPad and Mac. Nothing major, but I thought it was worth reporting, especially when we start to get longer threads than we have currently. Keep up the good work.

As they say on Planet Rock, one's day is always made better with a bit of Joe Walsh; Turn To Stone is my personal favourite.

May as well get a "I'm a beginner and want a new guitar" thread going...

There’s a 2nd hand 7 string at GuitarGuitar within your budget at the moment https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/pxp180728330165004-1740455--esp-ltd-mh-350nt-pre-owned-l10013876- 13 replies

This seems only appropriate as it seems a popular subject on BC. I'll start: Eric Johnson Robben Ford Steve Morse Brian Setzer Tuck Andress Mark Knopfler (at least the first 3 DS albums anyway). I've also recently been listening to a lot of Richie Kotzen, but I can't add him (yet) as he might be just this week's 'must listen to' player.

My GAS for a Gretsch Brian Setzer 6120 never goes away, fortunately, as they’re so expensive, I’ll never pull the trigger (probably ). In Real Town, a cut down, semi acoustic has my dander up at the moment. I’m going to try an Epi 339 Pro and a Casino Coupé out on Tuesday. Watch out got an NGD thread .

I played guitar way before I ever picked up a bass, but TBH I’m a better bass player than a guitarist (at least that’s what Mrs Ez says). I started in my teens and over the years I’ve had some crap and some cracking gear. These days it’s just a heavily modified Squier Tele, a Simon & Patrick acoustic folk (my oldest instrument by far) and an Epiphone EJ200 jumbo acoustic, although I currently have GAS for a small bodied, thinline, semi-acoustic (an Epi 339 or Casino Coupé). Amp wise, I have a Fender Super Champ X2 as I only play at home these days. Previously, my nicest Guitar was probably a PRS McCarty (original run), although, if I had to pick my favourite, I think it was my Gretsch Streamliner. Best amp? I think my Fender Bassman ‘59 reissue, damned loud, but sweet as nut.
