Total Plectrums

  1. It is possible it’s there if the paint is thick enough, on the grounds it needs refinishing anyway then a quick careful sand might be worth doing.
  2. Strange that there is no evidence of the serial number on the back of the headstock as they are fairly deeply impressed. Even if they used filler you would expect it to sink a little and show witness marks. If I could be sure it was a Gibson I would be interested.
  3. It is an easy adjustment to make, and return to where it was, so give it a go and see if you can find a sweet spot. Lowering it will drop the output and that could make it unbalanced with the others. You can either lower them all, or just accept that one is a little quieter.

    Ideal guitar

Irrelevant, someone has used it and loved at some point. What happened to it after does not change that. I imported a sax from Chicago that had been sat for decades but the patina is amazing. It was used by a session player in the 30s around the Chicago clubs. Just because it hasn’t been used for a while doesn’t change that. New isn’t always best by a long way, chill out, take some time and enjoy the beauty of a vintage instrument and you will understand……….
  5. I like Marty’s music. He is pretty chilled out and does stuff for a wide range of abilities and some good review stuff as well.
  6. Many larger amps have options to run at much reduced wattage for home use. The Vox AD range are stupidly cheap second hand, around £100-150 will get you an AD100VT with built in effects and amp simulators. They are heavy though.
  7. And a great colour as well. Top buy.

I can’t help with any info but that looks so cool. You can tell it’s been well used and loved.
  9. I ended up getting a pair of these and am blown away for the money. They are superb.
  10. My new Larry Carlton arrived safely from Thomann today. Initial impressions are very positive- Setup - frets are all nicely and level, nut has been cut well. String height is high for my personal taste but I like a low action. 8/10 Pickups- decent sound and matched well to each other. Not as meaty as some Gibson LPs ones but as good as any I have played on an Epi and better than most. Controls work nicely, tone gives a reasonable range across their rotation 8/10 Neck shape - very personal but this feels good to me. I like skinny necks and don’t want a baseball bat, this feels chucky enough to be solid but not too fat. The neck to body carve is miles ahead of a standard LP for access to higher frets. 9/10 Hardware - tuners are some of the smoothest I have ever had the pleasure to use, bridge arrangement looks very well made. 10/10 Finish - the top is gorgeous with a beautiful piece of flame veneer. Wood throughout is excellent and finished well. The satin finish on the neck is perfect. If that was everything it would get 10/10 BUT the binding on the neck has tiny marks from both fretboard and a bit of colour leach from the main body. It also fails to match the quality of the rest of the guitar. Neck blocks aren’t the best either, so overall drops to 7-8/ 10 Overall it is amazing value for money and plays very well straight out the box. I think a model like the T7 without the binding on the neck would be even better. Are Andertons right that it’s comparable to a £2k Gibson? Nah, course not but it gets closer than it should based on price alone. I would give it 8/10 overall but a little tweaking by Sire would sort those minor issues.
  11. Is postage to the U.K. included? I have checked but couldn’t find any mention of postage costs.
  12. It looks interesting, can you build a virtual pedalboard or is it one effect at a time?
  13. No problems with getting A guitar, the issue I have found is that they seem to multiply rather quickly.

    Reverb delays

TC stuff is excellent value, I have a skysurfer alongside my KMA for a more basic reverb sound and it’s brilliant. I paid £20 second hand but they are only £33 brand new. They still have 3 options (spring, hall and plate) alongside tone, reverb and mix controls.
  15. I like 1 in particular but 2 is cool, not so keen on 3.
