  1. Hard to pick just 3, but if I had to narrow it down, my top 3 would be Paul Kossoff Michael Schenker Rory Gallagher. None of them were flashy, shred merchants, but they didn't need to be. Just great tone and feel.

  2. I've got a Yamaha FG400A, bought it in 1990. Since then I've got numerous other guitars, but the Yamaha has stayed with me. Sounds as good, if not better than when I first got it. Not an expensive guitar, about a hundred quid back then if I remember right, but I reckon Yamaha's make some great guitars for the money.

  3. I've bought from some of the main UK shops in the past, GAK, GuitarGuitar in B'ham, PMT, Gear4music, Merchant City Music ( are they still called that?) but my most recent purchases have been from TR Music in Walsall, a smaller family owned business. They are really friendly and have some decent stock, Fender, Epiphone, Marshall, Blackstar etc. Also some nice used gear. Highly recommend them if you're in the area.

  5. Daisy Rock 'Retro' series (I have a twelve-string one; it's excellent...). There's a 'Bangles' signature model, too.

  6. Try an Epiphone Casino Coupé if you can. The smaller body makes the whole thing far more manageable and, being totally hollow, quite loud unplugged. The pickups are nothing to write home about but, otherwise, pretty good. For total clarity, I have one myself and have replaced the pickups and fitted a Bigsby. The 24.75" scale is way friendlier than 25.5", although the neck is quite chunky. All that being said, I'm a total Gretsch fanboy.

  8. Hello - I'm from the dark side at Basschat too. Liking the idea of Guitarchat tho. I've been playing bass for 32 years but also have had a parallel life as an acoustic guitarist for about 30 of those. Over the last couple of years the guitar bit has really blossomed and although I still play bass, most of my gigs are solo guitar and vocals these days. I've got a couple of electrics - a MIJ Strat I've had years and an Epiphone Casino, but acoustic is where my soul and my voice is - currently via a Crafter DE7, a little Tanglewood travel acoustic I use for songwriting, and an old Hohner I've owned since I was a kid. Hello fellow Guitarchatters anyway. A few names I recognise too yay.
