  2. Hi Guys, I bought a new guitar (actually just bought it, so it's travelin' and should be with me in a few days). Ok why did I buy a new guitar? I used to have a Fender MIM telecaster and I loved it. It was my first electric guitar. As time went on I realised that it was no perfect. The nut was not properly cut, the body is a slab of wood, the bridge design was lacking, etc. and above all the weight was unbearable (no pun intended :)) , alder body - 4.7 kgs! It didn't bother me in the beginning but then I felt more and more frustrated about the weight and the other issues, but it was mainly the weight. So I decided I needed a change and sold the Tele. I would buy a telecaster again, because at the end of the day, all in all, the guitar is not too bad. But I wouldn't buy it again from BIG F. This time I decided to go for a Stratocaster, but I wanted a lightweight model without paying an arm and a leg. I did my research and I had few options such as: 1) Harley Benton Travel Strat. But it's not a real strat, is it? 2) Ibanez S561 - very cool super strat, but the body is super thin... 3) Harley Benton ST 62 deluxe, no complaints here, but the gold hardware? SO WHAT DID i BUY? TRY AND GUESS!

  4. 339 & Coupé are the same size, the 339 having the centre block is the only body construction difference, IIRC.

  5. Daisy Rock 'Retro' series (I have a twelve-string one; it's excellent...). There's a 'Bangles' signature model, too.

  6. Try an Epiphone Casino Coupé if you can. The smaller body makes the whole thing far more manageable and, being totally hollow, quite loud unplugged. The pickups are nothing to write home about but, otherwise, pretty good. For total clarity, I have one myself and have replaced the pickups and fitted a Bigsby. The 24.75" scale is way friendlier than 25.5", although the neck is quite chunky. All that being said, I'm a total Gretsch fanboy.

  7. I learned the riffs a long time ago but I'm trying to get my picking hand back up to speed with Metallica's Creeping Death. I can just about manage Hetfield's part at 85% speed...

  8. That was my first thought, but they’re 25.5” scale and spitefully expensive too.

  10. Dye turned out ok, quite happy with it especially for 1st timer duffer and all. Will seal and the eventually apply nitrocellulose once all the necessary holes are drilled. Some glue spots, which you only see when you start to dye doh. Veneer is so thin i didnt want to sand too much, only here and there for glue spots. Fortunately the worst spot will be under the scratch plate. Plan to put a top loading bridge on, white pick guard. Single coils (not sure which) Neck im looking around for, i see a fender 22 fret for 200 quid online. Tuners, control plate hopefully Prewired all the above all on shopping list sssh dont tell the Mrs.

  12. I’ve been learning Playing God by Polyphia. It’s tricky to play cleanly and to keep the harmonics ringing out…i think I’ve got most of it to about quarter tempo, but it’s meant to be played fast. I think I’ve got about 6 more months considering my current practice regime!

  13. I have just learnt Paganini's Moto Perpetuo I know it all just need to bring it up to the right speed. I'm also working on For Elise, some of the lower notes in the bass clef are not available on guitar so I'll have to tweak it a bit.
