  1. I actually bought my first pedals in 11 years not long ago. In truth I've never been that big on drowning the guitar's natural sound in mush of one sort or anoth... but I digress. Anyhoo, I got one of these: and one of these: After playing with them for a while, I thought to myself "fuck me, pedal technology has moved along a bit since I last looked!" I do like them though, even though I have no foreseeable opportunity to use them in anger. In fact, I may well invest in a looper as well: I'd like to look at an RC-30, but not sure I can justify the outlay for home noodling.

  2. My three faves are all quite different in style… 1) Gordon Giltrap - whether in his 70s prog phase or later lone troubadour phase… I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen Gordon live! 2) Steve Howe - Yes/GTR/Asia 3) Gary Moore - Thin Lizzy: another player I’ve seen live innumerable times. Honourable mentions… Phil Keaggy Dave Bainbridge - Iona & sessions Iain Bairnson - Kate Bush, Alan Parsons Project & sessions

  3. As I’m plugging delay and reverb into the fx loop on my mixer, I wanted stereo effects so I ended up with a cheapo behringer reverb…. ….and a T-Rex delay…. I’ve had an RC2 for years….. …and use it a lot. I’ve yet to find a need for it at gigs but for trying ideas at home or practicing tricky sections, it’s brilliant. I did go crazy a few years ago and buy an RC30* but it blew my little brain and I could never get my head round it so I flogged it. * One of these RC30s… …not one of these… …although I’ve always lusted after one and if I ever found a decent one at a sensible price I might still be tempted.

  4. My gigging rig is the GR55, a Korg keyboard and my K-line which I put through a Simplifier 0watt amp. All that goes to a mixer so I can balance levels and EQ before sending a stereo signal to the PA. I want to be able to add some FX (reverb, chorus and delay) to both the guitar and synth signals (the GR55 patches all have their own FX set up onboard) as well as having some FX (overdrive/distortion) just for the guitar. I may also get an acoustic IR modeller to improve the acoustic emulation on the GR55 - or not, it’s pretty impressive anyway so the small improvement I might get isn’t worth it for the Dog’n’Spittle. But, you know….new pedal. Hmmmm. GAS is cured! Who was I kidding?

  5. Considering selling my 1997 GS Gypsy 2 semi acoustic / semi hollow. It’s in great condition for 25 years old with a few minor dings and scratches and notably some slightly loose finish on the sides of the body. It has twin humbuckers, coil tap, vol / vol / tone / tone & 3 way pickup selector, brass nut, GS bridge. Recently set up including fret level and crown and strung with 9’s. Incredibly playable and great sounding semi. If it said Gibson it’d be £1500 and it’s hand made! It’s in a functioning but slightly tatty hard case. Based on the Wirral but I can deliver or meet up within 50 miles or can ship it for around £30. Preferably no trades....
