  1. Hi, I'm Richard (Chud) I've been playing the guitar on and off since I was 13, I'm now 47 and forever looking for better sounds and tones. My biggest music influence over the years has been Metallica, I first heard Orion back in '87 and I had to know who was playing it and have been a massive fan of them since. Rig Rundown: Amp - Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier. Cabinet - Marshall MX212R 2x12" Celestion Seventy 80's. Guitar - ESP KH-2 (Customised EMG Solderless System running EMG Bone Breaker Pick-ups with a 24v Mod). Pedals: Acoustic Simulator - Boss AC-2 Amp Modeler - Joyo California Chorus - MXR Analog Chorus Compressor - MXR Dyna Comp Delay - VOX Satriani Time Machine Looper - TC Electronic Ditto Noise Gate - MXR Noise Clamp Tube Screamer - Ibanez TS Mini Tuner - Korg Pitch Black Pedal order from the effects loop on my amp: Amp Loop Send - Tuner - Noise Gate - Compressor - Tube Screamer - Amp Modeler - Acoustic Simulator - Chorus - Delay - Looper - Amp Loop Return Guitar plugs direct in to the amp.

  2. Sewing machine oil is very good. I have used it in the past. Lemon oil of guitars is the same stuff (light mineral oil) but with some lemon oil to add fragrance, which makes it pleasant to use. Avoid plant-based oils as they tend to oxidise and go sticky.

  3. It seems to have been a bit quiet on GC of late. I know it’s still early days, but I though I’d start a thread that could be added to once a week (at least). Therefore, I am instigating Tele Tuesday. Post any photos that you like of T types that have caught your eye, or one’s that own (they don’t need to be from the big F, just be Tele like in their appearance). I’m going to kick it off with this Mesinger Maverick that I saw today (this makes my wallet itchy).

  5. Great intro there, complete with gear photo too; just the ticket. It’s not super busy here, but then it doesn’t take hours out of your day catching up with all the updates, but we’re always willing to throw our collective weight behind any questions, guitar related or otherwise. Many of us are also bass players and contribute to BassChat, where it’s a lot busier, but we come here to chill and talk about the 6 stringed thing without the gentle ribbing we receive there (all very good natured though, they’re a nice bunch). 6. Well just missed Tuesday, but what the hell. Acquired this through a convoluted method while overseas - haven't actually seen it in real life yet, hope to be picking it up on Friday A 2011 USA 'Telebration' Cabronita with TV Jones pickups and no tone control. Should be fun

  7. No one else this week? OK, here’s not one, but 3 Teles (or T types at least) for you.

  8. One of those people who actually changed my life: Also a major inspiration behind my own Tele, which happens to be a CIJ 2006 71RI model. I'll post some photos of that beast another time, none to hand now...

  9. Another week passes and another Tele takes the stage. However, due to the quality of the photo, the Tele in question has to share the stage with the other 4 of Leo's greatest hits (I tried a crop but the result was way too noisy). It's a Tele Lite Ash which came with Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 pickups and is yet again another guitar I wish I hadn't moved on .

  10. Right, this week I thought I'd add this beauty. It's an Anderson Drop T owned by Dave Kilminster. It's very much the colour inspiration behind my own Tele build.

  11. Ok, it's Tuesday so here's my Tele. It's a 2004 Korean Tele Custom FMT, again made by Cort for Fender (as was my Showmaster in the Strat thread). It's got a chambered mahogany body with a maple top and a glued in mahogany set-neck with a rosewood fret board - so a bit like a Tele shaped Les Paul but with a Fender scale neck. The original pickups were a Fender Atomic 2 in the bridge and a Black Canyon in the neck but these have been replaced with a Bare Knuckle Nail Bomb Set in brushed nickel. The chambered mahogany body makes this guitar naturally very warm and resonant, and this works really well the Nail Bomb's metallic hairyness in the high frequencies to create a really good sounding, versatile guitar. Apart from the so-so stock pickups, the only thing about this guitar that I wasn't too impressed with was the sharp fret edges but this was easily sorted.
