I've removed the veneer from the front face of the body. It's stuck on with hide glue (made from hooves , horns, hide etc). Even though the glue is 100 years old it melts when heated with an iron. It smells like a wet dog in a pet food plant. Body minus veneer: Slotting the fretboard, it's made from green poplar, it will be treated with cellulose hardener and possibly stained. Wooden blocks with fabric stuck on , surrounded with card and filled with resin as test pieces.

Tell you what strikes me might be interesting - and easily done without even changing the wiring as an experiment - moving the middle pup to beside the bridge. A *bit* like the new Squier "Contemporary Strat" https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/squier-electric-guitars/stratocaster/contemporary-stratocaster-special/0370230506.html , though those are wired slightly differently. Would be interesting to see how just moving the middle pup alone affected the tone.

I don’t know anything about these, but it sure looks nice. Reminds me of Westone Thunder guitars and basses.
