Oh, believe me when I say I've been intrigued by the possibilities of baritone guitars - particularly electric ones! Unfortunately Open C isn't a full-on drop in the guitar's range - if anything, it expands it - so I have strings running CGCGCE. I'm in the dilemma of quite fancying a slightly heavier bottom string, but not wanting to go heavier on the top. But then also wanting to be able to play in standard tuning comfortably...I'm aware that the "traditional" BassChat solution would be to buy an additional acoustic guitar that I can dedicate just to Open C tuning!

I’ve not used that one, but it looks similar to what they use in many guitar shops.

Just playing 20 minutes a day every day for two months will sort out if you can Play or not!!

I am one of the Basschat posse that has joined in on this site but i started as a guitarist and only took up bass when i was at uni, i turned up with guitars and amps and joined the christian union and a local church and offered my services, at the same time i met a drummer (still one of my best mates, best man at my wedding and also member of my current band) i also met a guy that introduced himself as a bassist, what he didn't mention was that he was also a fantastic guitarist, we all ended up playing together and on our first appearance in the church band he ended up playing my electric guitar and i played his bass (a lovely mex precison deluxe p-j with the anodized gold scratchplate), everyone assumed that i was a bassist and as they was a shortage of bassists i was asked to play more often, i spent a couple of years borrowing basses so that i could play on a sunday before i got my first bass (actually swapped an acoustic guitar for it) i have more guitars than basses and the current tally is 5 electric guitars, 3 acoustic guitars and 5 bass guitars, (plus EUB, U-bass, Banjo, ukulele and banjolele) I try and play as much guitar as i can but Bass always has held a fascination for me, i actually set out to play bass but the local music shop didn't have anything that caught my eye and there was this graeat looking red superstrat hanging there so that's what i bought (and still have) Matt

I fell in love with 12 string guitars in the early 60s as a kid . My uncle used to take me to his bands practice in school and village halls and a scout hut. Some of the various band members had them and I just loved the sound. Then came George Harrison and the Byrds and I was well and truly hooked for life. This time round my buying choices are best sound for the money. Im not a guitar make snob . I don’t play live anymore but if I did I wouldn’t have any qualms about using any of the guitars I’ve bought during lockdown because they are all up to it. There are a lot of great economically priced quality build great sounding guitars out there now that really do sound amazing for the money and give the Fender Gibson’s and others a good run for the money these days

It comes built just string fitting needed. I will round off the neck straight edges though. Will only take a few minutes to do with a Stanley blade and a sanding block.
