  1. I've been playing guitar for years on and off, and currently having a resurgence! My main axe is a 90's cij jazzmaster with creamery vintage reissue pickups. My other axe is a 99' USA legacy special that I'm looking to sell because I've just bought a Doheny V12... I play through musicman amps - I've got a 210 sixty five and a 112-rp-65 and I supplement with a musicman 210rh cab when I'm on bass or want more bottom end. Rich

  3. I currently play bass (and so would normally be found at Basschat) but recently saw mention of all fourths tuning and thought this might be the ideal opportunity to do a bit of guitar playing without much distraction from bass. In fact, it may even be helpful, given that it would allow the opportunity for playing chords, which I can't normally do (I only have fretless basses). As I have an old 70s Gibson Flying V hanging around which I haven't touched since the early 1990s I thought that it might be worth trying to get that set up for this purpose. Unfortunately, it turned out not to be so simple, with the following required to make it really usable, in addition to a setup, new strings, cleaning etc.: The neck's not at the right angle and needs to be reset. I'm told that the body's been sanded thinner, which might not help. All the frets need to be replaced. Is that crack under the headstock in the finish, or the wood? Needs checking. The side dots have been painted over and need to be re-done. A new nut is needed. Possibly a new bridge as well. So, probably about £500, which is a bit much for the amount of use I'd get from it. Even more if anything particularly dodgy were to be found under the finish, and a refinish would be yet more still. This couldn't be done until August at the earliest. It's tempting to simply buy a Squier Telecaster, which would be much cheaper than even the minimum repair cost, but then the V will still be taking up space. What do people think about these guitars - worth the cost to refurbish?

  8. Hi guys I have an epiphone Les Paul zakk wylde bullseye I'm thinking of selling. I know that zakk no longer uses Gibson and that they no longer make these guitars. My question is how much should I sell it for or is it worth keeping. Haven't played in years and have an ibanez kicking about if I decided to play again.

  11. I’ve been giving this some thought and the only idea I’ve had that has, in my mind, any potential is to team up with a guitar shop with national coverage (I’m thinking GuitarGuitar) and offer them free advertising space on the site in return for the same on their site and perhaps have their shop staff mention it to shop customers. I’m sure it could end up being a minefield, but it’s all I have, short of physically making my guitar playing chums sign up.

  12. 1. Print the image mirrored so it will be the right way up when placed face down on the body 2. Water down some PVA glue and coat the printed side of the paper liberally 3. Leave to dry overnight 4. Once dry wet the paper and rub gently with your finger till the paper starts coming away to leave just the image but if you rub too hard the image will come off as well 5. When all the paper and white residue is removed either coat it again with watered down PVA or I used danish oil then leave to dry Hope that makes sense?

  14. Got both bodies cut this morning I've decided to make the fake branding slightly smaller than my mock-up I need to make up some ageing solution to try and get the sides the same colour as the top I’ve read that mixing white vinegar with some bits of wire wool will make it go the kinda silvery colour but I’ll see how it comes out.............

  15. Sold one of these brilliantly named lil fellas on the low end version of this very board... Have been looking for an analog sounding delay that does what it does, as well as it does, since. But where's the fun in just buying another one?

  16. Have you advertised this forum anywhere other than basschat? Maybe guitarists just don’t know it’s here?
