The Marshall rig ( now up for sale ) was lovely but not ideal for home playing and occasional jams with buddies, more a rig that needed to be gigged ideally ( I’m no longer gigging ) Decided the Katana was sufficient to play at low volume at home without pedals and loud enough to jam with band buddies Just took the easy route and a one hand carry to the car so less lifting hassle The 100w Gen 3 combo will be ideal and I’ve purchased the Boss combo stand too Sold my pedals and pedalboard which nearly paid for the Katana !
-
Wow. Any particular reason? I thought it had to be valves? I have not played the newer Katanas, but played a lot with an earlier version and they are excellent amps with loads of great tones and options. If you play a variety of material, just like changing your tone dramatically, or play mainly at home they are awesome. If you only stick to one tone then it might be a bit overkill.

newfuturefantasy started following Guitar Repairs in London England Area
-
Hello all. I've just given my favourite classical guitar a nasty knock on the body. There's no hole, but the binding is damaged and there's some small cracks on the soundboard. Can anyone recommend a good repair service in the London, England area. Thanks.

Just changed the strings on my classical guitar, after the D string randomly went ping, I wasn’t even in the house when it went, let alone playing it. This is the first time I’ve changed nylon strings in decades. Man, oh man, what a royal PITA! Took ages ad now I have days of retuning whilst they stretch in. That said, the Augustine Imperial Reds I fitted are really nice and a definite improvement, feel and tone-wise, on the D’Addarios that were on there (at least that’s what Alvarez said they were). I don’t use a capo much, when playing, but for changing nylon strings, it is almost indispensable.

Yeah, the Hotones were purchased for a specific gig and now they're sort of kicking about without a purpose. I'm jonesing for one of the new MXR Rockman X100 units but second hand because prices are a little crazy at the moment. Once I have one, I'll put together a Def Leppard specific mini pedal board with the Hotones and a delay unit.
-
The older units are generally made with less advanced components so tend to be a little noiser. I have quite a few multi effects units in both rack and pedal form including Zoom B3, Zoom G3x, Adrenalinn III, Lexicon MPXG2 (x2), Line 6 M5 (x2), various Rocktron Intelli-units who have noise reduction.

I bought this new in January 2025 it is pretty much brand new. Ibanez RGD3121 Prestige made in Japan. Polar lights flat. It has the 26.5” scale so you can play lower tunings without getting too floppy. Or use in standard tuning for a general thicker tone. It has some new 10 -52 Daddario XS strings and action is about 1mm so pretty low. Complete with hard case and original packaging. Can courier double boxed or collect from South Yorkshire. Thanks for looking Martyn07771985890

Excellent 2012 ESP Horizon Evertune. Thinning down the collection , one in one out. I had this professionally converted from a Floyd rose to Evertune by Jon Shuker at Shuker Bass. Hardly been used and never gigged, nice low action. For sale as I play bass and this is too good a guitar to not be getting used. Hope I don't regret letting this go but just bought a Dingwall so need to replenish some funds... Collection only will not post. Payment cash or bank transfer. Collection only from Wickersley Rotherham South Yorkshire. I can meet some where if an hour or so away.

Skinnyman started following 2012 Fender FSR Am. Special Strat HSS
-
Edit - please note that the guitar is in Cleethorpes, not Nottingham. We moved! We're into the final stages of the Great Retirement Clearout and this listing is from my 2012 FSR American Special Strat. I bought it new from Peterborough Music (sadly now defunct) and it's in excellent condition with all the original paperwork and Fender gig bag. It has an ash body in natural finish with two Texas Special single coils and an Atomic humbucker. The full spec is listed here https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratAmSANat--fender-fsr-american-special-stratocaster-hss-natural-ash-body. The guitar is available to try out here in Cleethorpes or I can travel a reasonable distance to meet/deliver - please PM me to discuss options.

GrandadJohn started following Add on for Music stand
-
I just jam at a local club. Nothing difficult, just a bunch of people playing chords and singing. I have a music stand and I need a guitar stand too. I want to minimise the things I need to carry. Has anyone modified their music stand to enable them to hitch their guitar to it as well?
-
I'm sharing this backing track, ii-v-i in C Major. I've added some small variations and changes in intensity to make it more interesting. You can practice your phrases. There's also a version without piano, so you can practice the chords

Hi! I rarely practice any guitar technique without music that inspires me and here's a tune I think you can use in performing too, just play it twice or three times with modulation. Video: Tabs: Cheers, Mikko

Let's face it, when you think of Johnny Marr playing, you think of Rickenbackers, Fender Jaguars or Gibson semi-acoustics.

Eric Clapton 1958 Gibson Les Paul Custom
randythoades replied to PeteUK's topic in General Discussion
Are Gibson struggling again? Is the aim to create a stir on the internet and get people talking about the brand? Let's be honest, no publicity is bad publicity. I am happy for signature guitars to exist. Plenty of players want to more emulate their heroes, and doesn't take away the fact that they are also fine instruments for non fans to play. But this seems a bit silly, bringing out signature guitars that most wouldn't associate with. And with such a massive price tag. -
Gibson have also brought out a Johnny Marr signature Les Paul, another player I don’t really associate with an LP.

Eric Clapton 1958 Gibson Les Paul Custom
randythoades replied to PeteUK's topic in General Discussion
Ouch. That would make a dent in the bank account. I also don't associate a black LP with Clapton. Yes, the sunburst LP during the Bluesbreakers time, a 335 or SG with Cream and then obviously a black strat. A quick Google does pull up a handful of photos, but I certainly wouldn't associate this with him specifically. And £17500 when you could get pretty much 10 Clapton signature strats...? No thanks. Although, I suppose that is cheaper than an original 1958 one. You can buy a new (non signature) one for about £6000. So a 'signature' is worth over £10,000? -

I bought a "Gilmour Modern T-ex " last summer in Seoul. I was really surprised of the quality they delivered in a low price range. It's now my favorite guitar (got 7). Recommended. http://www.gilmourguitars.com/musicchina2016/musicchina2016.html

I’ve just recalled a Washburn Woodstock electro-acoustic that I should never have let go. Played many gigs with it and it always shone. How could I forget it?

Strangely the same as @PeteUK, my Washburn HB35. Mine was natural and had the lowest action ever. Sounded better than the Gibson 335. No idea why I sold it.
